मैत्रेय उवाच इत्थं स लोकगुरुणा समादिष्टो विशाम्पति: । तथा च कृत्वा वात्सल्यं मघोनापि च सन्दधे ॥ ३९ ॥

maitreya uvāca itthaṁ sa loka-guruṇā samādiṣṭo viśāmpatiḥ tathā ca kṛtvā vātsalyaṁ maghonāpi ca sandadhe

Synonyms

maitreyaḥuvāca—the great sage Maitreya continued to speak;ittham—thus;saḥ—King Pṛthu;loka-guruṇā—by the original teacher of all people, Lord Brahmā;samādiṣṭaḥ—being advised;viśām-patiḥ—the king, master of the people;tathā—in that way;ca—also;kṛtvā—having done;vātsalyam—affection;maghonā—with Indra;api—even;ca—also;sandadhe—concluded peace.

Translation

The great sage Maitreya continued: When King Pṛthu was thus advised by the supreme teacher, Lord Brahmā, he abandoned his eagerness to perform yajñas and with great affection concluded a peace with King Indra.
