त्रिभि: क्रमैरसन्तुष्टो द्वीपेनापि न पूर्यते । नववर्षसमेतेन सप्तद्वीपवरेच्छया ॥ २२ ॥

Text

tribhiḥ kramair asantuṣṭo dvīpenāpi na pūryate nava-varṣa-sametena sapta-dvīpa-varecchayā

Synonyms

tribhiḥ—three;kramaiḥ—by steps;asantuṣṭaḥ—one who is dissatisfied;dvīpena—by a complete island;api—although;napūryate—cannot be satisfied;nava-varṣa-sametena—even by possessing ninevarṣas;sapta-dvīpa-vara-icchayā—by the desire to take possession of seven islands.

Translation

If I were not satisfied with three paces of land, then surely I would not be satisfied even with possessing one of the seven islands, consisting of nine varṣas. Even if I possessed one island, I would hope to get others.
